Bamboo Matcha Whisk — Chasen

Bring an authentic touch of Japanese tea culture into your daily matcha ritual with our traditional bamboo matcha whisk, known as a Chasen.

An essential tool in the preparation of Japanese matcha, the Chasen is traditionally handcrafted from a single piece of natural bamboo and carefully shaped into fine, delicate tines. Its unique design allows you to gently incorporate air into the matcha as you whisk, creating the smooth, creamy texture and delicate layer of froth that define a beautifully prepared bowl of matcha.

The Heart of the Matcha Ritual

More than simply a tool, the Chasen is an integral part of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. The rhythmic movement of whisking transforms finely ground matcha powder and water into a silky, balanced drink while helping to release its full flavour and delicate aroma.

With the right technique, the Chasen helps prevent clumping and creates an even, smooth consistency — allowing the vibrant colour, refined umami and subtle sweetness of ceremonial-grade matcha to shine.

Simple, Beautiful, and Made for Everyday Rituals

Lightweight and comfortable to use, our bamboo whisk is suitable for both matcha beginners and experienced enthusiasts. Whether you’re preparing a traditional bowl of usucha or creating a café-style matcha at home, the Chasen makes the preparation process simple, enjoyable and beautifully tactile.

Take a moment to slow down, whisk gently, and enjoy the ritual from the very first movement.

Whisk with intention. Create the perfect froth. Savour the ritual.

An essential companion to any matcha set and a thoughtful gift for anyone beginning or deepening their journey into Japanese matcha.
